Post meltdown, my respect for Wavves has greatly diminished. Seriously, fuck Nathan Williams and his drug and alcohol problems. He’s a little brat who doesn’t seem to appreciate his success. Anyway, here’s a new video for “No Hope Kids.”
Jason Lytle has a new video for “It’s the Weekend,” a track off his recent album, Yours Truly, The Commuter (Anti-). In a nutshell, he washes his car. Yeah, it’s boring, but come on, his car was dirty.
We’ll miss you.
Best video of the year:
Is this a supergroup? Not really, but it sounds interesting. Justin Vernon, better known is Bon Iver, has teamed up with Collections of Colonies of Bees to form Volcanic Choir. The band will release Unmap on Jagjaguwar on 9/22. Hearing Vernon perform with a full band should be fun. The tracklist:
1. Husks and Shells
3. Island, IS
5. And Gather
6. Mbira in the Morass
7. Cool Knowledge
The tropical rhythms just keep coming and coming… The latest, with an African flavor, are from Fool’s Gold, an LA band who traffic in the same exotica made popular by bands like Abe Vigoda and Vampire Weekend. The guitars are legit and the recording superb on “Surprise Hotel” (download here), but the singing is kind of weak. And it’s hard to shake the feeling that Luke Top and Lewis Pesacov aren’t kind of jumping on the band wagon…
The new album is due out 9/29 on Iamsound.
